XCEL
FOUNDATION

Overview:
In a nutshell, the following is the underlying concept for the XCEL Foundation.
The Need:
The XCEL Foundation was formed out of need; A need to help the youth of today become better prepared to face the challenges that their family life, the workplace and society as a whole presents to them.
Involvement:
The founders of the XCEL foundation are helping fulfill this need by creating an environment whereby concerned individuals and "Less Fortunate" youth spend quality time together on an ongoing basis.
The first step in meeting this need was to find organizations that aided "Less Fortunate" youth. Vista Del Mar and the Help Group, a multi-service, residential treatment facility for emotionally disturbed children, meet this objective. The Help Group is the largest non-profit organization serving children with special needs related to Autism, Asperger Syndrome and learning disabilities.
Working closely with Vista Del Mar and the Help Group, the XCEL Foundation has developed the "Friend for a Day" program. This program has allowed members of the XCEL Foundation to meet with a selective group of Vista Del Mar and the Help Group's children and show those children that we care about them. In the process, we have broadened their cultural horizons and provided them with positive role models, not to mention "just getting them out of their everyday environment, for a day of fun!" Recent outings have included a day at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center for an equestrian exhibition, Disneyland, Go-Karting, bowling and picnicking, behind the scenes at I-MAX, ice skating and an evening Dodger game.

Results:

The "Friend for a Day" program is an overwhelming success for two reasons:

1. Not only to the children have a lot of fun spending time with us, but they really look forward to our next event. This gives them the inventive to "be good" and "XCEL" at their responsibilities at Vista Del Mar and the Help Group. These positive, fun events help further the XCEL Foundation's main objective of enhancing these children's lives and Vista Del Mar's goal of helping the children return to their natural home.

2. On a personal level, by giving freely, we have experienced an unequaled feeling of self-worth.

The Future:
The XCEL Foundation's future plans include expanding the "Friend for a Day" program and developing other programs which will prepare the youth of today for the careers of tomorrow. Another long term goal will be create a program where children, early on (around 10 years old) will learn the value and honor of being an American citizen. These programs will be supported by proceeds obtained from grants, private donations, and "GALA EVENTS" such as Casino Nights, Dance Parties and Black & White Nights, just to name a few.
And, You:
In order for the XCEL Foundation to succeed, we will need the help o others to build upon the existing foundation that we have painstakingly constructed. We need to form an Event Committee, Publicity Committee and a Development Committee. And we are always needing fun-loving volunteers for the Friend for the Day program. With this in mind, the XCEL Foundation has created this website to open the Foundation to you, someone that understands the meaning behind
